Providing a Platform for International Expansion
4 April 2007
Online consumers in 20 countries can now shop, play and pay online with cash
as Ukash expands across Europe, making it the most widely available prepaid
product for European cash consumers. Ukash utilises the Smart Voucher platform
to reliably and securely process millions of voucher transactions and is now
set for further growth.
"Ukash has been a great success in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Germany and
I am delighted that Smart Voucher technology will be helping to ensure that
the expansion across Europe will continue the success story", says Mark Chirnside,
Chief Executive Officer of Smart Voucher.
In the UK, Ireland, Spain & Germany consumers can get Ukash vouchers from
thousands of locations such as convenience stores, newsagents, post offices
and petrol stations. Now cash consumers in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic,
Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Norway,
Portugal, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden can get Ukash at their nearest bank
branch by completing a simple paying-in slip. They will then receive an email
or SMS message with their unique and secure Ukash voucher number.
"Ukash is now available to an estimated 226 million internet users who don't
have or don't wish to use credit or debit cards online plus Ukash is free
of any charges or fees to the consumer, unlike some other prepaid products.
Using Ukash avoids them having to put their financial details on the internet
and it's available to everyone; they don't even need a bank account!", comments
David Cox, Ukash Marketing Manager.
